Wizard of Oz gets interactive
Families turned out in creative costumes for the Creative Play Place Wizard of Oz Interactive Movie Party. It was a successful fundraiser, with more than 170 seats were sold for the event.

“It was so much fun to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as they watched the movie,” said April Rao, CPP director, “And watching everyone come out with confetti and straw stuck to their hair, let us know everyone was having fun as planned!”

See "Wizard of Oz" photo gallery along the right side of the Herald home page. Photos were taken by Heidi Rimstad.

The movie was accompanied by costumed characters who interacted with the audience, as well as MCs, who helped everyone learn how to use their props during the show.

There were guest appearances by Mayor Strand as the Mayor of Munchkin City, Paul Peterson and Steve Bennett as the Lollipop Guild and Maggie Kennedy from the Mankato Ballet as the Lullaby League.

A highlight of the show was when Lisa Browne, CPP board member, road across stage as Ms. Gulch on her bike – loud cheers and laughter followed!

CPP wishes to thank all the volunteers and businesses who helped make the event a success.

The movie was one of the events listed on the 2010 St. Peter Winterfest calendar. Winterfest continues through Feb. 14.
