ST. PETER — The Highway 169 project in St. Peter is still on schedule to reopen sometime between November 14 and Thanksgiving.
An exact date for reopening has not yet been determined and will depend on the weather.
The following information is an update on what’s currently going on with the project:
• Some work scheduled for spring – The original schedule for the Highway 169 project included some work to be done in spring 2010 – this includes landscaping, completion of sidewalks north of Chatham and south of Walnut, and various punch list items.
All work that can be completed this fall and is not sensitive to cold temperatures will be done.
Any remaining work will be completed in the spring.
• Discover Saint Peter Holiday Celebration – The City of Saint Peter, the Saint Peter Chamber of Commerce and downtown businesses will be holding an all-day event on Saturday, November 14, to welcome people back to downtown Saint Peter.
A ceremony recognizing the completion of the Hwy 169 Saint Peter project will be a part of this all-day event and is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Watch the www.Discover169.com website and local newspapers for more information about family activities, special entertainment, store promotions, etc.
Upcoming activities:
• Jefferson intersection re-opens – The Jefferson intersection is open. Cross-streets are also open at College, Mulberry and Nassau.
• Broadway Ave. (Hwy. 99) to open by November 4 - Depending on weather and completion of signal work, Broadway (Hwy. 99) is expected to re-open on or before Wednesday, November 4.
Hwy 169 will still be closed between Jefferson and Chatham.
• Paving north of Broadway – Over the next week, depending on weather, paving will be completed on Hwy 169 (Minnesota Avenue) between Broadway and Union.
These paving operations will require short-term closures of intersections and driveways. Traffic will be maintained on Hwy 169 north of Chatham during paving operations.
• Park Row and Walnut closed week of November 9 – Park Row and Walnut will be closed between Minnesota Ave and the river for approximately two weeks starting the week of November 9.
Front Street intersections will be closed for approximately 2-3 days during this period.
Northbound Hwy 169 traffic will be detoured to Washington Avenue when Front Street is closed.
These closures are required for storm sewer construction.
Additional information will be provided to affected property owners and in the next construction advisory as it becomes available.
