Pietila wins 10th-grade run In his first cross country meet, St. Peter’s Nick Pietila won the championship in the 10th-grade race Friday in the Early Bird Invite. His time over 5,000 meters was 15:34. There were 19 finishers.

St. Peter tennis starts 1-1 The St. Peter girls tennis team opened the season last week splitting two non-conference matches. United South Central edged the Saints 4-3 at Wells. The Saints bounced back to beat Le Sueur-Hendeson 5-2 on Thursday at Le Sueur.

Over-35 Saints bounce back at state tourney The first two rounds are history as the defending state Class AA champion St. Peter Saints, seeded No. 2, were upset by the No. 15 seeded Menahga Relics 4-2 on Saturday and defeated the No. 10 seeded Perham Silver Pirates 5-4 on Sunday in the state senior mens over-35 amateur baseball tournament.

The coach’s expectations for players are high, and the captains are expected to be the player role model for the team, and also take on leadership roles for off season and preseason, for practices and game days.
