Oh what a plunge

Hate to admit this but, I actually caught myself whining about how cold my hands were while working the video camera at the Polar Bear Plunge in St. Peter on Saturday.

Late-breaking story

10:18 a.m. Wednesday: Rumor has it the medallion has been found.
But don’t totally believe it until you read it at www.stpeterherald.com.

Happy medallion hunting

Let’s join Mother Nature in making things as difficult as possible for the Winterfest Medallion hider.
Record warm temperatures are melting the snow that could otherwise cover the $1,000 disk.

It’s nice to share

The flap over SOPA has us walking down memory lane.
At least 15 years ago, we wrote a news story. Another newspaper took the information, shuffled it, reassembled it and published it.

Warm & inviting

In the middle of the night, St. Peter is the warmest place along Highway 169.
That’s what the truckers no doubt would say if polled.

Happy trails ... and trials

I had the chance this week to write equally interesting stories about an alleged bank robber; and a horseman who hoofs across the country raising awareness for hungry children.

News you can use

What’s in store for 2012?
From the standpoint of local news, there’s so much that can’t be predicted.

What happened to extra story ideas?

Welcome to the Herald’s end-of-the-year column, a tradition that has gone on for the past decade and a half.

Healthy actions

Good folks at Action for a Healthy Community have helped us eat right in 2011 by providing healthy recipes.

They’re smarter

Are you smarter than a fifth-grader?
I don’t need Jeff Foxworthy to prove I am not.
